    Skype Weak Connction Error | No service | Windwos Defender


    After a cold boot Skype loads but it will not allow me to make calls.

    When I try to make a call to a landline I get a error message "Your Connection is too weak."

    I tested the connection and all seems well.

    Earlier I had an experience where a Windows Defender update wiped out a cookie that authorized a financial institution to remember my computer ( that was the institution's explanation).

    Today is Thanksgiving. Maybe Skype or the connections are overloaded?

    Any thoughts on this

    windows defender & security center services keep turning off


    Are you running any other AV or did you have one running in the past? If you didn't use an uninstaller for the AV, then the remnants of it could be causing the problem. Normally any time you install an AV it disables Defender by default.

    If you are getting any error codes please list those, that will be helpful in helping you.

    As torre suggested, might be a good idea to do a reset or even a reinstall.

    Windows Defender blocking Skype

    This is weird behavior because Windows Defender won't interfere with Skype and as I tested in different devices, it works without any issue.

    Are you using the latest version of Skype?

    Are you referring to Skype or Skype for Business?

    What error are you receiving, when you try make a call?

    Have you checked the firewall and see whether is it in allowed list?
