  1. Sleep Option Not Available

I recently reset my PC due to some issues and tried adding a high-performance plan to my power options via cmd but wasn't able to do so. Then, I came across a few tricks through which I can enable the high-performance plan. But now, when I try to put my PC to sleep, it doesn't work. There is no sleep option in the Alt+F4 neither it is in the power options nor the settings.I tried many fiixes available on the internet, but no luck.I tried finding the sleep states but theres none other than hibernate and fast startup. What should I do in such a case. I am tired of finding fixes on the internet. No

    :)

  2. NO SLEEP OPTION

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

    Please try the following steps:

Method 1: Enable Sleep Mode via Control Panel

    1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type control panel and press Enter.
    3. In the Control Panel, set the view to "Category" and click on "System and Security."
    4. Click on "Power Options."
    5. In the left pane, click "Choose what the power buttons do."
    6. Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable."
    7. Ensure that the "Sleep" box is checked under the "Shutdown settings" section.
    8. Click "Save changes" and check if the Sleep option appears in the Power menu.

Method 2: Enable Sleep Mode via Local Group Policy Editor

Note: This method is only available for Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise.

    1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
    3. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer.
    4. In the right panel, double-click "Show sleep in the power options menu."
    5. Select either "Enabled" or "Not Configured" and click OK.
    6. Check if the Sleep option is now available in the Power menu.

Method 3: Update Display Adapter Driver

    1. Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager."
    2. Expand the "Display adapters" section.
    3. Right-click on your graphics card and select "Update driver."
    4. Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
    5. Follow the prompts to complete the update.
    6. Restart your computer and check if the Sleep option is available.

Method 4: Restore Default Power Settings via Command Prompt

    1. Press the Windows key and type cmd.
    2. Right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator."
    3. In the Command Prompt window, type powercfg -restoredefaultschemes and press Enter.
    4. Restart your computer and check if the Sleep option is available.

Method 5: Enable InstantGo (Connected Standby)

    1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power.
    4. Double-click CsEnabled and set its value to 1.
    5. Restart your computer and check if the Sleep option is available

Please do let me know if the method I suggested works for you or if you need further assistance.

    No sleep option

    Hi Ashwin,

I suggest you to check if you can get the sleep option in other accounts if you have to test the issue.

If the option is not available in all accounts, you may run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool which fixes the Windows corruption error if there are any. Follow the steps:

      • Press Windows+X.

      • Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

      • Type the command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
        and hit Enter.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

You can follow the steps in the following article:

    Redirecting

Please update us with the status. We will be glad to assist you.

    Sleep Option Not Available

Computer Sleep Option Missing in Settings

The Settings Power and Sleep menu in Settings should list Screen and Sleep, where Sleep is used to tell when the PC goes to sleep. Sleep is missing, so my computer never sleeps. Fast startup and Hibernate are not enabled. I used Tutorial Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10 to change the registry while in administrative mode, but sleep still is not seen. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings now lists :1: It was 0 before the change.

I cannot get a large image, so will type Default REG_SZ (value not set) ShowHibernate REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (0) ShowLockOption REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (1) ShowLockOption REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (1) I used Option 3 to add sleep using the Group Policy Editor. The steps seemed to work fine, but sleep is still missing. I’m using a “new” refurbished Dell T3500 workstation with mbr running the current version of win10. I have a number of these computers, and the other all have the normal sleep mode . Any suggestions? Jim
