I have Windows 11 fully qualified system with MSI x299 motherboard and a case that only a slot type DVD fits into. There are no eject buttons on slot type which can make it difficult to remove DVD.The system is set to never sleep. Unaccountably, the ODD disappears after a while. There is no indication of a problem in the event viewer when this happens.I updated the Matshita UJ167 to latest firmware. Slot type are usually designed for laptops. Could this be the problem?I set "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001The power pl

  2. 2nd SSD Disappears After System Reboot

    Hello,

Been awhile since I posted anything but have an interesting issue on my Dell Latitude E5440 laptop running Win10 Pro x64 (add'l system specs below/attached). I recently replaced the ODD with an HDD/SSD caddy and Kingston 480GB SSD to be used as a secondary data storage drive. I thought all was well in doing this until I performed a soft reboot (normally I just use sleep/suspend). Upon reboot I was surprised to find my secondary SSD had disappeared from file explorer (the drive never stops responding while actually working in Windows). It's not detected in Win Disk Management or IRST. Only when I physically disconnect/reconnect is the drive detected by Windows again. I read some other suggested remedies where installing IRST and then disabling Link Power Mgmt (which I've already done) was supposed to correct certain connectivity issues. But alas not for my particular situation. My Win10 OS build is 19041.329 and I've also attached a system report from IRST which shows the Kingston SSD as being detected and functioning normally from what I can tell. I can connect the drive to a different system and it also is detected normally while seemingly functioning fine. But for some reason upon reboot of this particular system, the drive doesn't show up again until I physically disconnect/reconnect. Very strange but looking for any suggestions on attempting to correct the issue. I found a similar discussion which is very close to my issue at the following thread but some of the suggested remedies do not apply. The system hardware configuration is different and as you may have guessed, the Dell laptop BIOS options are rather limited. BTW, I have since tried updating all system drivers and the BIOS without any success but the issue persists. SATA controller is configured for AHCI mode. Thank you in advance for taking a look at this. Let me know if I can provide any additional information/screen captures which may be helpful.

    UPDATE:

So I was able to get a bit further on this one through a series of my own system testing. For whatever reason, the ODD SATA connection interface appears to be quite selective on the type of drive it will function with. The following are the various configurations I tested and their corresponding results:

    SSDs w/ Intermittent Connectivity:

    • Status: NormalType: SATA SSDLocation type: InternalSize: 238 GBSystem disk: NoDisk data cache: EnabledCommand queuing: NCQTransfer rate: 6 Gb/sModel: OCZ-VECTOR Firmware: 1.03.1
    • Status: NormalType: SATA SSDLocation type: InternalSize: 447 GBSystem disk: NoDisk data cache: EnabledCommand queuing: NCQTransfer rate: 6 Gb/sModel: KINGSTON SV300S37A480G Firmware: 600ABBF0
    SSDs w/ NO Intermittent Connectivity:
    • Status: NormalType: SATA SSDLocation type: InternalSize: 447 GBSystem disk: NoDisk data cache: EnabledCommand queuing: NCQTransfer rate: 6 Gb/sModel: ADATA SU630 Firmware: R1210A0
So for the time being, in summary, the ADATA SSD doesn't appear to have any issues being detected and staying connected on the ODD SATA interface. Even though the other two SSDs remain fully functional and report good SMART data. Again, very strange issue and just when you think "you've seen them all", some issue pops up that you haven't experienced before <smh>. Oh well, not sure this will help anyone but thought I would share the info regardless. Thanks again for looking!

Cannot boot from SSD through SATA slot

It is a laptop so there is no sata cable and power connector. There is only a slot to insert the sata and power pin.

I have already reset the bios default setting but no use
