Windows 10: Slow app launch when connected to home network

So I've discovered an interesting problem that I'm having with my computer. When I am at home, connected to my wireless network, it takes windows a very long time to launch apps. Everything from PDF reader to Excel/Word take at least 30 seconds to launch. If I turn off my wireless or disconnect, apps will load instantly.

This appears to happen only on my home network. If I am at my office, connected to the network there, the apps load instantly. This wouldn't be as much of a problem, but I work from home most of the time and have to open many PDF's and misc files all day long.

Any suggestions?

connecting to wirelless network at home with 5230

I have a nokia 5230 and i was wondering if it is possible to connect to a wireless home network.



Because the T-mobile Web and Walk is slow and hope to use internet faster when i'm connecting to my wireless network at home.

How can I stop my WP7 connecting to subscibtion wifi for example BTopenzone, without having to go into settings and turning on and off the wifi when not at home.

Not true. It does on my phone even after I have deleted the network. It seems that WP7 will connect to the first network it sees and connect automatically if it thinks it is 'open'. So if your home router is a bit slow getting back to you (especially
the newer ones that sleep more) then WP7 will see that and stop looking for your home network.

Worse, I do have a BT subscription and if I use BT Openzone when away from home I have to remember to delete it when I get back. If I'm tired and forget I don't get any emails, just a random error code when I do eventually check.

MS have messed up by launching WP7 before it was ready. They omitted a list of stored networks with an order of priority. The omitted useful error trapping routine so that users had some useful clues when something goes wrong. The omitted a sensible fail-over
routine so that if wifi is live locally but not connected to the internet it could swtich to an alternative wifi or mobile network.

It's been getting on for a year now since they launched this phone. God knows what their programmers are spending their time doing when they haven't even got the basics right yet.

 

I appear to have found the fix- when I'm connected to my home network, my wireless brother printer seems to do some sort of pre-check of all the files I open. I started disabling my background services one by one and testing by opening a file. Once I disabled the wireless Brother app, everything loaded instantly. I guess I'll just plug into the printer when I need it now.
