  1. Slow boot - samsung evo 850 SSD and Asus B85M-G Motherboard after form

Hi!I have a B85M-G asus motherboard and a Samsung Evo 850 256gb SSD and besides a WD 1TB extra hard drive. I just made a formatting and reinstalling of windows 10The boot now incredibly slow. It stops at the "asus" screen when booting and stays there for 1.5 minute. When it then moves on from there it goes really fast.If I turn off the computer by holding the button down and then turn on the computer boots it really fast.Someone who can help?Emil

    :)

  2. System Startup Inquiry

I never ask questions here, hardly ever..

My question or inquiry would be:

I recently bought a Samsung EVO SSD 850 250gb, and did a fresh clean install of Windows 10. It boots up in 2 or 3 seconds. That's perfect. my problem ocurrs when turning it on, it'll showing me a flashing text cursors for a few seconds... then go to the
BIOS screen... But, if i just simply turn it off and on again.. it boots into windows. I don't have any other installation, Boot order is set to Samsung EVO 850 SSD nothing else. It's just a minor annoyance. i don't have any system slow down, or anything.
jsut the boot issue. The previous SSD i had in the system did not have that issue with windows.

    HArdware:

    Asus z170-k Motherboard 4.00 GHZ

    BIOS latest Version

All hardware up to date and compatible

Video card - Nvidia GTX 960

    16gb of DDR4 RAM 2200mhz

    250gb Samsung EVO SSD

2TB HDD (That came with the computer as well, again, had no issues with previous SSD)

    Troubleshooting steps done:

    SFC /Scannow

    100% verification no issues found.

    Checked boot order

Checked bios settings (everything the same as before, just different SSD)

When installing windows however, it did not create a *insert mb here* System reserved. just the install.

Any info would be helpful. Any system verification i've done, returned with no errors.

  3. Can't install AMD AHCI Drivers

    Hello,

It seems that the standard microsoft AHCI drivers are not very compatible with my SSD(Samsung 850 EVO) and motherboard(Asus M4A79XTD EVO), this setup creates system frezees when accessing files and programs on the SSD and sometimes bluescreens(DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    (storahci.sys) ).

I have tried installing the latest drivers for my amd chipset and it haven't helped, it seems like windows ignores the installation and keeps running on the old driver. Looking in Device Manager under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" it still says "Standard SATA
AHCI Controller" after installation and restart.

  4. Slow boot - samsung evo 850 SSD and Asus B85M-G Motherboard after form

Hi emilfrolund. Welcome to the TenForums @emilfrolund

In your description you said if you hold the power button down. I assume you mean you hold down until the device hard power downs. Correct? You are not using just a push and release.

What happens when you do a simple restart?
