    Slow boot time, dxgkrnl.sys BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED


    I have been trying to pinpoint the problem with my slow boot time. Looking at the boot log I can see BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys come up multiple times. I have searched online for fixes and seemed to have tried everything I have found. I am currently running Windows 10 with an AMD Radeon RX 470 graphics card, with 3 monitors all connected to the GPU. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the AMD drivers, restarting before and after a new install of the drivers with neither speeding up the boot time, currently about 10 minutes to get to the log in screen. I have done a full Window reinstall twice, flashed the BIOS of my motherboard, MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3x, updated the firmware of my motherboard, all with no success at speeding up the boot. I went into the BIOS and tried allocating more memory to the GPU, 512 MB. Tried turning off Windows Defender, but it seems to turn itself back on when I restart, again just as slow as the before. Looking at my startup programs I had every app that wasn't required turned off, and tried turning off some of the Windows scheduled tasks and Windows Services but this led to a BSOD loop on restart the required another Windows reinstall. In addition to the above-mentioned hardware I also have an Intel i5 6500k CPU, and Windows on a Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Below is my most recent Boot Log, if that helps.

    This has been happening for about 3 months, so I a might have missed a step I tried, but any help would be appreciated. Let me know if there is anything that will I can do that I haven't already tried or even something I did in an incorrect order. Thanks in advance.

    dxgkrn1.sys loads 5 times during boot process in Windows 10

    Hi. I am finding my boot process to be somewhat slow. So I used msconfig and am looking at the log file after the boot is complete. It shows the following line 5 times:

    Booting up takes 3 minutes, possible cause is dxgkrnl.sys not loaded

    I have bought a new laptop and I installed Win7 on it because that's the OS I was used to. I had some troubles with installing the drivers but I have managed after all. The only problem left was a very slow boot up.

    Then I decided to upgrade to Win10, the OS that I am still running right now, but I chose to keep my Win7 data. Hoping I will get a faster boot up I was dissapointed. I still had to wait 3 minutes to be able to use my laptop.

    Safe mode minimal boot takes 1 min and 20 sec and I have also noticed by enabling Boot log the following

    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\cdrom.sys

    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys - 5 times

    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\gzflt.sys

    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\trufos.sys

    So I am thinking something is wrong about dxgkrnl...

    I am also experiencing Latency issues caused mostly by dxgkrnl.sys, ndsys.sys and intel rapid storage technology.

    My antivirus is BitDefender.

    I tried:

    • Updating BIOS (when I was still runnning win7, causing the laptop to not be able to boot to windows, changing boot to legacy support solved the problem)
    • Disk defragmentation
    • Updating windows, most of the drivers as well
    • Ran SFC scanner but it got stuck at 65%
    • Disabled fast startup

    Windows 10: 35 minute boot time on fast PC

    Hi all. thanks for your help. I have tried many more things including using chkdsk (came up clean), cleaning up the boot-drive and enabling TRIM. I also did a system restore.

    The problem still persists - but I have some new information from the boot log:

    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\N360x64\1605020.00F\SRTSPX64.SYS

    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys

    In the bootlog these two drivers failed repeatedly on Boot up - I have Googled them but I can make nothing of the definitions.

    Would this have an impact on my boot time?

    What is puzzling is that the boot time is consistently 30 minutes - then the machine springs to life and runs perfectly.
