Windows 10: SLOW BOOT TIMES WITH NEW EXT HHD HANGING BLACK SCREEN. HELP!

Secondary external 8TB HDD WD Mybook, adding blank screen with non flashing white underscore to boot time increasing boot time by 10+ seconds. When I unplug the HDD the whole system boots in 5 seconds or less.

Things tried that didn’t work, disabling fast startup and double checked my SSD had boot priority in BIOS.

I bought the Evo for my build to get super fast boot times and now its the oppoiste.

2 minutes of Black Screen before Login Screen & Slow Booting.

I also see that your system has become slow hence I would suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps,

Method 1: System Maintenance troubleshooter

Please follow the steps to run System Maintenance troubleshooter on the computer:

• Type “Control Panel” on the search box.
• Click on Troubleshooting.
• Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.
• Click on System Maintenance option.
• Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.

Method 2: Disk Clean Up

Cleaning out your PC on a regular basis frees up drive space and helps it run better. One of the easiest ways to clean up files you no longer need is by using Disk Cleanup. Try performing it on the system and check if it helps to
resolve the issue.

I would also suggest you to perform a clean boot to check if third party applications are causing the system slow.

Windows 10 incredibly slow boot times.

Hi,

After upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 my computer suffers from incredibly slow boot times.

It boots to a black screen with white loading circle in the middle, I have timed it and it takes 5 minutes plus to reach the logon screen from the black screen.

Can anyone suggest what may be the problem?

• Are you able to boot to desktop?
• Are you getting any error message?

I suggest you to update all the latest drivers in your computer. Also update you chipset drivers from the manufacture website and try to install Windows 10 and check.

Method 1: Update graphic drivers.

I suggest you to update graphic drivers and check if it helps. Follow the steps given below.

• Press Windows key + X key and click on
  Device manager.
• Search for Display Adapters.
• Right-click on the graphics
  card and click on Update driver software.
