Windows 10: Slow bootup time due to "waiting for ProfSvc" on a laptop.

Hi there,

interesting question here that drives me crazy for a few days straight.

I have a laptop here. Use it for music production, so there is a ton of software installed. (Especially some Avid stuff can be really intrusive.)

Anyway, lately my bootups were getting over 30 - 40 secs of black screen before login screen appears. So I tried to turn on verbose mode and it showed that during the bootup, computer hangs on "waiting for ProfSvc" message.

Is there any way I can try to read some log or events from the profile manager to find out what's taking it so long? Aside from some DOM component access restriction events I've found nothing so far.

Obviously re-install would help, but I have a massive amount of SW I need, so it would be bloated again in the minute. Finding the root cause would be much more preferable.

Every tutorial, article or forum post is treating this as a server or domain computer problem, but this showed up on a simple laptop.

Please help.

Since the SFC tool failed to find any issues, the next step we would suggest is to perform a Disk Cleanup to speed up your computer's performance. To know more on how to perform this process, kindly click on this

We also suggest clearing the contents of the Prefetch folder. This is where Windows stores the bootup files. Deleting what's in this folder will trigger the system to refresh the bootup process. Here are the steps:

• Right-click on the Windows icon on your home screen.
• Type prefetch then press Enter.
• Once you have the folder up, press Ctrl + A on your keyboard.
  
• Press Shift +Delete.
• Click on Yes.
