Windows 10: Slow computer, disk 100% in task manager.

Hi all,

I noticed recently that my computer was running a little slow. In fact, on 08.03.2021 it wouldn't even open a PowerPoint document (albeit a big one). I opened up task manager and noticed that the disk was running at 100%. Having googled it I tried several steps to fix the issue such as fixing my StorAHCI.sys driver, changing energy options, disabling Windows Search and Superfetch. None of them worked so I reinstalled Windows and completely reset everything on my PC. I have a 480GB SSD and noticed that I've got 302GB free after downloading Warzone which was a 90GB download.



Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix the issue? I've also ran a scan in my Virus checker (Windows and McAfee) but no threats were found.

Disk utilization 100% in Task manager

My laptop shows 100% disk utilization in the task manager for the first 20-30 mins after I start my machine. During this time when it is 100%, system performance is very slow. After 30 mins, disk utilization drops again under 20% and everything is normal.

I tried reaching out to Microsoft help a couple of times in the past and they suggested me to update my windows. That may have resolved the issue temporarily for few days but it starts behaving like this again.

What are the top 5 processes listed in the task manager using the disk?

Please do this:

1. Launch the Task Manager
2. Click Details
3. Click the CPU column header
4. Make sure the biggest load is visible at the top of the list
5. Use snippingtool.exe to create a snapshot of the frame
6. Save the snapshot to the desktop, then attach it to your reply.
