Windows 10: slow download with wifi - tried everything I could find

so as the title says, my daughters PC - the one in my system specs - is getting about 1/4 what the other wifi pcs in my house get. The only difference is my daughters PC has windows 10 and all of the others have 7.

~ I updated all drivers and BIOS.
~ read through various posts on the topic and made all of the suggestions (stopped auto updates, removed inherent throttling, stopped background apps, etc).

I am getting 4-5mbps consistently and this PC is closer to the router than any other PC in the house.

My other PC which is in the basement and opposite side of the house gets 22mbps typically. I tried swapping out the wifi adapters but it made not difference on either PC.

Currently using dlink T2U.

Hey, I've tried everything I could find in order to get my PC to connect to certain websites. I've reset my PC, looked at tons of router settings to no avail. I can connect to my phone's wifi hotspot for internet, but it is way too

For first two downloads I didn't get message, but download was too slow, although I have good WiFi. For 1.2MB application it took 10min. After that everything is pending, all updates, without errors. I've tried all solutions and didn't find how to change
it in Win10 and solve it.

 

did a winsock reset, as found in another thread in this forum, and I am now getting 9mbps. Still half of my other PCs but better.

I also did scannow and it found errors but couldn't fix them all. should I post the log file here?

 

See if at point blank range the PC gets full speed. If it is, it's an interference issue or the signal isn't strong enough to provide the full speed.

 

I will set it up next to my other PC that has a fine download speed. Will that suffice?

sitting side by side, my daughters PC gets 8mbps and I get 20. swapped out wifi adapters and got similar results.

The main problem is you only get 74% signal strenght that will drop the speed

 

okay but then why does my other PC get 20mbps with the same 75%?

 

Does the other pc get 75% even a person standing in front can effect it the antenna on the wifi can make a massive differnce if the other is better. Polarisation can also effect it if the router is vertical and the usb is horizontal that can do it if the routers can be moved its worth trying it in different postitions

 

really? I have two pcs literally right next to each other. one gets 8mbps and the other gets 20 I switch the wifi adapters and run the test again and get the same result.

Switching adapters doesn't change anything and the two pcs have the same physical barriers and polarization.

it has to be something else. why does an older windows 7 laptop in the same room get 20mbps using the same adapter?
