Windows 10: Slow ethernet under windows, normal under Debian

My ethernet speeds are lower than expected on this computer. There are two ethernet adapters on this motherboard, one 2.5Gbps and a gigabit adapter. They have different manufacturers and run completely different drivers. Internet speed tests and LAN throughput tests (with iperf under WSL) hover around ~550Mbps. A Macbook Pro, with the same ethernet cable on the same port on the gateway, hit 780Mbps down over the internet. So to eliminate a hardware issue, I installed Debian 10.9 on a spare disk today - the throughput over LAN magically jumped to 980-990Mbit/s. This is on the same computer, with the same cable, on the same port on either side - just reboot into a different OS and the speed doubles. I'm at a loss here - I've disabled LSO for ipv4/6, energy efficient ethernet, and a host of other things. This is under W10 ver 2009, 19042.985.

on the debian website they offer diffrent downloads of their os debian i386 how do i download it adn instal it? on a normal windows XP computer

Thanks for your quick reply, Mike. I just:

• Unchecked the "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support" Windows feature
• Rebooted
• Checked the "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support" Windows feature
• Rebooted
• Tried connecting to the Debian server's share

But it didn't work.

Any other suggestions? In the meantime as a workaround, I see that there's a "Services for NFS" option that I'm going to test out to see if I can get access that way.

Are you able to boot to Windows 10 without any interruption?

Are you trying to dual boot Debian OS again?



To clear the Debian boot partition, I suggest you to format the partition on which Debian Operating software is installed by following the steps below.



Step 1: Open Run command by pressing Windows Key + R, type
diskmgmt.msc in the command box

and press Enter.

Step 2: Right click on the disk partition where the Debian OS is installed and select
format option.

Step 3: Restart the PC and check if you are able to boot to Windows 10.
