    Slow HDD Performance due to "missing" Network Drive?

    Greetings!

    I own two 3D Printers of which one is a Prusa i3 MK3S into which I've installed a Toshiba FlashAir WiFi-SD Card that can and has been mapped as a Network Drive on the PC I do my 3D Modellig on to remove the need of constantly running back and fourth between that PC and the 3D Printer, residing at the other end of the house, to shuffle files onto.

    Ever since adapting this quality of life feature I noticed the PC, with that mapped Network Drive, becoming unresponsive for like 30sec+ whenever I save a file - Doesn't matter what I save, where I save to, and which program I use to save - Could be Photoshop CC saving a *.psd to the Image Folder, could be the Browser saving an *.exe to my NAS Folder, etc... At first I didn't associate with the mapped Network Drive because sometimes it wouldn't show these symptoms until it hit me that the hang up would be caused by the Network Drive not being online due to the 3D Printer - and subsequently also the WiFi Card - having been remotely shut down.

    So basically:
    3D Printer + WiFi Card ( Mapped Network Drive ) online = PC saving files without issues.
    3D Printer + WiFi Card ( Mapped Network Drive ) offline = PC becoming unresponsive for like 30sec when saving files.
    ( the problem usually eases down with subsequent saves but still... )

    Is there maybe a Win10 20H2 setting that can be used to deal with this issue of the PC becoming unresponsive without me having to turn on the 3D Printer just to save an Image I found on the iNet?

    :)

    My HDD drives loads slow..... why?

    Hi Muhaimin,

    For us to better assist you, we need to ask a few questions:

    • Are you getting any error messages? Can you send a screenshot?
    • Is your HDD storage full?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
    Hardware issues may cause the performance to become slow. You can refer to the article on this

    Slow HDD Performance due to "missing" Network Drive?

    Win10 Slow boot time. Help debug with Windows Performance Analyzer

    Hi,

    I think that the issue is caused by the "Generic HDD SCSI Disk Device" driver

    Slow HDD Performance due to "missing" Network Drive? [IMG]

    you have 8 disk drive attached to your computer:
    1. Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB
    2. Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
    3. ST4000DM004-2CV104
    4. TOSHIBA DT01ACA200
    5. WDC WD20EARX-008FB0
    6. Generic HDD SCSI Disk Device
    7. Seagate BUP BK SCSI Disk Device
    8. Kingston DT Elite G2 USB Device

    I would suggest you uninstall the Generic driver from the device manager;
    • Open device manager and display the hidden devices;
    • Generic "HDD SCSI Disk Device" under disk driver and uninstall it.
