Slow PC Any help would be great

    Hello to the Microsoft Community!

Just a few months ago my old desktop gave out and I finally bit the bullet and purchased a brand new computer. However, as soon as it came home I did all the installing and updates etc. and things just didn't seem right, quite often it seems to slow right down for no apparent reason when it seems I'm not asking much, maybe load a webpage, watch a movie or start up a game, it never feels smooth, the screen will tear and flicker or just go completely black for a few seconds then come back on and have a funny contrast to the picture which I have found restarting the pc fixes but it shouldn't do these things right? Really feel like I'm not getting my moneys worth or maybe I'm just complaining because I didn't dig deep enough in the pocket.

If anyone could give me some advice on what I could do to get a bit more out of this computer that would be great, and of course any more info can be given that will assist I'm just not sure what I need to do or where to start.

Thanks a lot! Hope to hear from someone soon

    :)
