    slow program starts, Slow boot, slow shutdown


    Windows Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.48)

    From switch-on to desktop start-up sound takes nearly two minutes, and after that there's still a lot of disc activity. Shutdown is equally slow.

    Once the system has started it takes 30 seconds after clicking on an MP3 icon for VLC player to open.

    Is this to be expected or is there something I can do to speed things up?

    Windows 10 booting / shutdown / disk access very slow

    Dear community,

    recently my Windows 10 Home is very slow to boot up, takes ages (10-15min) after shutdown is clicked, to start the shutdown process, which takes ages again and is as well extremely slow when opening the explorer after a new usb hard drive is connected. Detecting
    it is as well a question of several minutes.

    Do I have to re-install Windows 10 completely? It was pre-installed as I bought this (new) computer, so I don't know the product key or what else is required...

    article    .

    Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to start your computer normally by referring to
    How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting section of the article.
