    Slow startup

    Good day to all.
I have a Acer Aspire E1-572 Laptop. It's running well on windows 10.
The only thing is very slow on startup timed it this morning on a restart it took two min 35 seconds. I have looked on this forum and did find good info tried most of it but no joy.
On restsrt it hangons on the acer screen for most of the time, This morning I installed the autoruns it flashed on a black screen with a lot of info went so fast could not reed it. Cant find it in mt programs anywhere.
Does anyone have any ideas on this problem that I have Please.
PS. I did have Kaspersky installed removed that now got the windows defender running i though that the kaspersky may have been an issue.
    Thanks.David.

    :)

    Slow startup

    Hi

I have problems with my Windows 10 PC at startup:

    • login takes about 20 min for one users. All other users starts normally as before in say 5-10 sec
    • It is not possible to log in using error safe mode, "password is invalid", for any user
    • It is not possible to run windows defender on this "erroneous" user, to check on the existence of virus. When running defender for other users finds no threats
    • CPU is running at 15% all the time when finally being logged on.
    • Cannot start or stop Window edge!
I am also running office 365 on the same machine.

Can you give suggestions on what to do, should I delete the user which has the problem?

    Thanks in advance

    Matt

  3. Slow startup

    Michelle -

Back up your files, then use whichever method works in this link to
Access Advanced Startup Options in Windows 8 or 10.
Easiest is to access any power button to choose Restart while holding the Ctrl button.

[If none of the other methods work it may be necessary to create a
    Recovery drive
or Create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC.
This media provides the most stable way to do booted repairs and also allows if necessary doing the vastly superior
    Clean Install Windows 10.

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key, choose the
boot device as a UEFI device if offered, then on second screen choose Repair Your Computer]

In the Advanced Troubleshooting options try to System Restore to a point before the problems
began, then if necessary from Startup Settings try to get into Safe Mode with Networking, or lastly Safe Mode.
If Startup Settings aren't available you can force Safe Mode from Command Prompt using the commands here in
How to enter Windows 10's Safe Mode.

From Safe Mode w/Networking work through the
    Windows 10 Install Integrity Checklist.

If Safe Mode doesn’t work or help stabilize things then return to Advanced Troubleshoot options. Next try Command Prompt to run
Windows 10 Install Integrity Checklist repair commands
including sfc /scannow to see if it will repair, or return to Troubleshoot options to Use A Device to boot memory test and if necessary
Reset Your Windows 10 PC This will reinstall the OS while saving your files which sheds the crippling bloatware.

Better yet do the vastly superior
    Clean Install Windows 10
following the steps in the link to delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest. After install reactivate with your Product Key, automatically from embedded Product Key if a
factory install or if free Upgrade has already activated so that it has permanent Digital Entitlement.
Activation in Windows 10 - Windows Help.

If these fail you can try to run Factory Recovery from it’s hotkey at boot; find yours by googling the “PC make/model + Run Factory Recovery” or refer to standard
Factory Recovery methods. After Recovery mitigate the inferior factory install with the Checklist steps
    from earlier.

Feel free to ask back any questions and keep us posted on how it goes.

Is MalwareBytes the new 3.0x version or the old 2 version?
If the 3.0x version it has been known to cause profile corruption on some users' machines (including mine). The temporary solution is to set MBAM 'delay startup' to 60 seconds.

Autoruns should open a windows for you to review what loads at startup. Run autoruns.exe once Windows has started. See https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/.../bb963902.aspx

Does that info suggest anything Please. Will check the malwarebytes.Did anything show up in the file i provided.Thanks.

  8. Slow startup

It seems like you install/uninstall a lot. You better get rid of Iobit's junk and install something reliable, like:

GeekUninstaller or Revo Uninstaller Free or Wise program uninstaller

You should also get rid of Superantispyware, you do not it with MBAM. You have some startup entry related to Chromium and Google update service running, which might be the drag as well.

Performing some cleanup would not hurt, like with CCleaner and Windows, you might also try Wise care, it has a disk cleanup tool and a boot service, which measures the speed and offers some suggestions.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...a.html#option2

Not to mention drivers, you can use Driver Easy Free to check for missing/outdated drivers.
Wrong SATA driver might cause a slow startup, but that would be the case since install.

Hi I'm back. Went through all the info you gave me,Regarding uninstallers I'm currently using iobit uninstaller.
After going all through the process of the liks you gave, Two issues that are causing the delay is the
ACER explorer beyond limits scree and the microsoft welcome screen hangs on.I that was sorted it would make a big difference to the startup time.
Do you have any thoughts about those two issues Please.
Thanks for you help very much appriciated David.

    Hi, do this routine check:
    From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!

Also run Crystal Diskinfo to check your disk - SMART params.

    Then try
    SFC /Scannow
from an admin command prompt and post the result
    - note files reported missing in your post.

Then try a clean boot and compare the boot time.
Also try booting to Safe Mode and compare the boot time.

There are technical methods to analyse your boot as well.

Like this. Search for, download, install, run. Post screenshot like that.

    1. Unfortunately that's not the result of chkdsk, so we don't know it yet.

    2. When you know that's good, please run and post the result of running SFC /SCANNOW - just what's displayed on the screen, not the CBS.log file.

    Thanks.

I noticed in your post #2, your computer has a lot of missing EXEs; although I normally do not recommend registry cleaners, I'm wondering if the following will help you:
-- after you have made full images of your OS and data partitions onto reliable external media
-- after you have used tweaking.com's registry backup & restore to make a registry backup
-- Auslogics Registry Cleaner, you can safely click all the boxes
-- Wise Registry Cleaner, Custom Area do not click User MRU Lists or Sound & App.
Restart the computer maybe twice, allow Windows to come to full desktop.
Please report back and tell us what happened! The above has worked well for me for years.
BTW, both Auslogics and Wise offer other things within those programs -- ignore all that.
And, do only custom or advanced installs! Unclick, decline any extra offerings.
