Windows 10: Slow to launch programs on powerful PC

Recently I have noticed how slow some programs are at launching on my pc.

Most programs are quick and responsive, with only a few programs taking their time such as chrome, spotify, discord and the new edge browser.

Chrome for example is lightning fast once its opened but takes a good 5 to 10 seconds to launch when completely closed.

Specs of my pc are i9-9900kf, 32gb ram, nvme ssd. So it really shouldnt be opening slow. It opens faster on my 4 year old laptop.

I noticed that after the feature update 2004 for windows 10 chrome was taking upwards of 30 seconds to open, so I uninstalled the update and went back to the previous build, but it is still slow and is really frustrating.

I have also noticed odd flickering on the desktop when chrome is opened, as if the desktop icons are being refreshed. This led me to think it may be a RAM issue, but everything seems fine with the RAM.

I have updated bios, check ram and checked ssd. Everything seems fine. I have solid perofmance in benchmarks and gaming and thermals are not an issue. I am really unsure what to do and would like to see if there are any idea before I reinstall/repair windows.

There are several reasons why this issue occurs. This could be a possible system conflict. For us to better assist you, we need to ask you a few questions. Please answer the following information:

• Can you send us a screenshot of your available memory and memory usage?

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform a
clean boot to start your device using a minimal set of driver and startup programs. It will also help us identify what conflict is causing this slow performance.

3. What is the build version of Windows 10 running on the PC?
   
4. Were you able to launch the program prior to this issue?

My pc is reacting slow

Hello Nizho,

There are many possible causes why your computer is running slow. Examples are
not enough hard drive space, too many programs running at startup or in the background, data Corruption and hard disk fragmentation.

• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Have you check the status of CPU usage?
