Windows 10: slower internet connection on ethernet than wireless

That's much better!

If connecting a device directly to your VM SuperHub gives you an ethernet throughput of 110Mbit/s in 'router' mode but only ~10Mbit/s in 'modem' mode then the issue is with the SuperHub and its 'modem' mode (not the Asus router).

The only way to tell for certain is to carry out the comparison tests I suggested earlier, summarised as follows:

'Router' mode test
1. Disconnect Asus router from Superhub.
2. Ensure Superhub is in 'router' mode.
3. Connect directly to SuperHub (any port) and carry out speed test.

'Modem' mode test.
1. Disconnect Asus router from Superhub.
2. Ensure Superhub is in 'modem' mode.
3. Connect directly to SuperHub (same port as used by Asus router) and carry out speed test.

If the results show the issue is due to 'modem' mode then you should be able to go back to Virgin Media for a free (and newer) replacement SuperHub.

AndreTen you babe! 110mbps down on ethernet on router! this has kept me up at night for so long thank you so much. the layout formt he forum is a bit different but in traffic manager i turn off qos and it works. qos off wont effect too much will it?

surprised at that - nearly all (in fact I thought ALL) modern consumer grade routers had nothing set for QoS by default. If Qos limits most routers by default then there must be zillions of people running with slower network speeds that they are paying for !!!!

I've never touched Qos on mine and it looks like it doesn't effect clients as nothing is set.

On the other side, you'd be surprised about how many users play with router settings, or somebody does for them... and then after years, upgrade internet connection, but forget to adjust, or remove QOS

Last time I was in UK near York on a gig I was getting quite reasonable results using 5 GHZ Wifi from an ISP probably very few have ever heard of in UK -- KCOM --I've found the smaller ones are often FAR superior to the bigger players in larger countries (those with bigger populations - not land mass).

@UK users -- Far better than BT/Virgin/Sky !!!

150 Mb/s down on a dodgy 5 GHZ wifi connection shared with a load of users (8 in the block of flats I was staying in) isn't at all bad -- even the upload speed isn't too horrible -- nothing like back home with the near 1 Gb/s stuff - but it's fine for what I needed to do.





Qos was also not set.
