Windows 10: Slower Internet on Windows vs Linux?

Not quite sure where else to ask this question...

Recently I started having issues with my broadband 1GBPS connection. I was daily driving Arch for a while, but since I've been playing more games in quarantine I've begrudgingly switched to Windows.

Initially Windows was fine, I was getting typical speeds (~ 800GBPS Down / ~50 MBPS Up) yet recently I've been having very spotty connection issues (~400D/~20U). It eventually got so bad I actually reformatted and to my surprise it actually helped a little bit. I have updated my network drivers, mobo, etc. to no avail.

When I test my network on Linux, it's always pegged at 900down/60up. I have 2 drives in the same machine using the exact same hardware. I have a feeling there's some Windows service/process that could be slowing it down, but after following some guides with no fix I'm at a complete loss.

What could be going on with windows that's causing these network issues? Why does the same hardware work perfectly on Arch, but Windows it's a crapshoot?

Can anyone help/give insight into what may be going on or direct me to some place where I could get answers? Thanks!

TL;DR - Recently Windows networking has been performing at about 50% of capacity. Rebooting into Arch I have absolutely 0 problems and get expected performance in tests. What gives?

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?




Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Progressively Slower Internet

For months I have been trying to understand why my internet connection becomes progressively slower as I use my Dell XPS8700 PC. I seem to have read every "solution" on the internet, and tried most of them, but nothing makes any long-term difference. My
one solid clue is that a restart "cures" the problem (ie normal internet speeds return) but then the same progressive slowing starts all over again. A normal shut down and startup of the PC does not "cure" the problem in the same (temporary) way.

Any suggestions would be more than welcome!
