    Small bumps, Windows 10 Pro?


    Howdy,

    I have put together and built my first PC by myself. With the following components:

    Processor: Ryzen 5 2600

    Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB

    RAM: 16 GB G.SKILL DDR4

    Power supply: be quiet 400W

    SSD: Crucial MX500 with 500 GB

    I installed Windows 10 Pro from the boot stick, installed all updates and uploaded the latest drivers for processor and GraKa.

    So far so good, now I have the following problem: Some programs (e.g. Steam) do not start smoothly. The program starts very fast, but the window opens with small jerks, as if the program start has FPS problems.

    The problem also occurs in the taskbar: When you move the mouse over an open program in the taskbar, this thumbnail of the window opens and how it appears and disappears is not smooth either.

    Besides, I had it now once that the scrolling in Firefox jerked a bit and a short time later the whole PC hung up and I had to turn it off with the power button. On restart it was as described again.

    In itself, the PC runs well, but even these problems should not be.

    The RAM usage is fairly constant between 25 and 35% when I have 2-3 programs open.

    Any ideas what I could try?

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
