Windows 10: small pauses/freezes

im getting small pauses, lags like freezes every few seconds that last for a few seconds, its starting to make doing anything on my pc very hard, im not sure where to even start with this

SSD 'pausing' when installing or copying multiple very small files

I've not seen that. (I have seen pauses when copying lots of small files to USB flash drives, though.)

semi-random suggestion: has "trim" ever been run on the SSD? (Right-click on c:. Select Properties, Tools, Optimize.)

freezing issue)

  Unplug and re-plug the USB cable to ensure a good connection.
  
• 
  Try the mouse USB cable in another USB port on the computer.
  
• 
  Use only a powered USB port.
  
• 
  Try rebooting the computer.
  
• 
  If possible, test the mouse on another computer and check if it freezes.
  

Try to configure Mouse 5 as different function and check, If the issue persist I suggest you to reconfigure the Mouse and check if it helps.
