  2. Can't launch any applications

    Hi,

This error message will show if the application or program that you are trying to open was been blocked by Windows Defender SmartScreen. Having said that, we suggest that you disable Windows Defender SmartScreen by following these steps:

    • Click on Start.
    • Type Windows Defender Security Center.
    • Click on App & browser control.
    • Click on Off in the following options:
      • Check apps and files.
      • SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge.
      • SmartScreen for Windows Store apps.
    • SmartScreen is now completely disabled. If you'd like to still receive a warning when a potentially malicious file or program is detected, you can choose Warn in each SmartScreen option.

Let us know if the steps above helped you to resolve the issue.

Maintain trust of SmartScreen as you move from EV to Regular Code Sign

Our company is releasing a desktop application and wants to move from EV Code Signing (HW) to Regular Code Signing (SW). Is there any way to maintain trust of Microsoft SmartScreen filter and avoid building reputation by downloading/installing the app organically?

    Thank you.

Windows 10: this application cannot run on this pc pop up

    Hi Jim,

Conflicts with a third-party program could be the caused why you are having a pop-up message saying that This Application cannot run on this PC. For us to assist you better, kindly answer the questions below:

    • Which version and OS build number of Windows 10 is currently installed? To check, press the Windows key, type winver, and press the Enter key.
    • Do you have a third-party security software installed?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • Have you tried creating a new administrator user account, and check if it helps?

Meanwhile, I would suggest that you try to disable the SmartScreen Feature in Windows 10. SmartScreen is a built-in Windows 10 feature designed to protect your from phishing attacks and malware. You can follow the steps below:

    1. Press Windows Key + S and enter smart
      screen. Choose Change SmartScreen
settings from the list of results.
    2. Go to Security section and locate Windows SmartScreen.
    3. Click Change settings and select Do not do anything (turn off Windows SmartScreen). Click
      OK to save changes.

If the issue persists, I would suggest that you try running your computer in clean boot, and check if you will still encounter the same issue. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program
in Windows 10. You can follow the steps in this
    link

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting
of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.
