Snap to default button in dialog box not working in Word or Excel. It does work in Access. I have Windows 10. Please help. I see this question has been asked several times over the last few years. Is this something that is unable to be fixed?

Hi Gang:

I Believe since the last update my cursor does not automatically go to the default button in a dialog box. It may not have anything to do with an update. I have checked and unchecked the box in settings for this but still not working. Is it just me?

From prior posts, looks like I need to provide some info:

Edition: Win 10 Enterprise

Version: 1809

OS build: 17763.737

All HID-compliant mouse drivers updated.

Windows updates all done up to enterprise settings.

Hi Ste. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you.

1) Try running the reg file Shawn provides for this setting in Option Two here:

2) If not then check the registry setting from option Two here:

3) If this was caused by Windows Update(s) then you can check which were installed at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Update History, then uninstall them from the link there, and immediately check for these again and hide with the Hide Updates

You can also go into Repair Mode by whichever method works here:

You can also use System Restore from within Windows or the above Repair Mode to get back before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them:

4) Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue
with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

5) If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing
it up to the latest version 1903 which you need anyway and by the most stable method.
