Windows 10: Snip and Sketch now showing "how do you want to open this file"

I'm on Windows 10 with whatever the latest update was this past week. This just started happening after never seeing this before.I have Snip and Sketch pinned in my taskbar. I normally right click to bring up the tasks for the app and select "take a new snip in 3 seconds".When I do that now I am getting this in the image attachedI have no option to click OK for whatever the jibberish text is. Adobe Acrobat is there by mistake because when it first popped up today I was trying to click off of it and accidentally selected Adobe.I can still do a screen grab, but that popup will stay there until I

Sketch and Snip

As we are working as a IT support for the secure project, we need to disable the sketch and snip in windows 10 20h2 as well as in 21h2.

We have tried to add the registry keys for DisabledHotKeys as well as NoWinKeys, and we have turned off the hotkeys from the gpedit.msc.

But it is helping to disable the hotkeys only but not the sketch and snip. There are different ways to open the sketch and snip.

1) If we disabled the hotkeys, we are able to open the sketch and snip from start.

2) We are able to open the sketch and snip from the quick actions which is inside the notification bar.

3) We are able to open the sketch and snip by using the command explorer ms-screenclip:

Please suggest here to disable or remove the sketch and snip completely from the Windows 10.

 

Can Snip & Sketch be removed from Open With context menus?

Recently, I've noticed that whenever I want to open an image file (.jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png, .ico, ...) to edit it in one of my programs (not just to view it), and I use the Open With context menu command, where my various image editors are listed, Snip & Sketch is in the list of apps. I can't imagine why I'd want to open one of those with Snip & Sketch with its very limited editing ability, so I've looked in the registry at these file types in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\] to see whether I could eliminate it from the Open With list. Not there. Or, at least, not obviously there.

Suggestions for eliminating it, short of uninstalling the program (which I use frequently for TenForums posts)?

 

Snip & Sketch

It's the Snipping Tool that's being phased out, not Snip & Sketch. FWIW, I just used the latter tool and was able to paste the snip into a Word (Office 365) document. There was a point in the past when for reasons unknown, opening Word would clear the
clipboard. If you're using an older version, you might want to try opening the document first, before taking a screenshot.

If you prefer to use Snipping Tool, all you have to do (as I suggested earlier) is open the Start Menu and type snip.
