Windows 10: Snip & Sketch Returns Grey Blank

I have been trying to use Snip & Sketch on a Windows 10 PC but every time I try, whether by launching the app or using Windows+Shift+S the end result is the same - a rectangular snip returns just a blank, grey rectangle in the app and not the data I wanted to get. This seems to be true when trying to do a snip on my primary or secondary screen. I am told the snip is saved to the clipboard, but when trying to paste that into Word, all I get is a white rectangle.


Does anyone have any ideas what is going on?

strange, is the saved file blank or is it not taking a snip?

if the saved file is blank, try saving in a different format.

if it is not taking a snip, try selecting a larger piece of the screen.

Snip and Sketch

Snip and Sketch operation changed after recent update applied.

(1) PrtScn, and WIN+shift+S will start the selection type process, allows me to select an area, then ends when I click on the area. It does not enter the sketch mode.

(2) If I start the snip and sketch app, it goes to the sketch app, allows me to select NEW, which starts the above process (1), and returns the selection to sketch mode.

Before the update, option 1 used to return the selection to sketch mode. How do I get back to the old method?

I LOVED the Microsoft Snipping Tool. I understand that Microsoft did away with it and replaced it with "Snip & Sketch." While the concept to use it is the same, when I capture what I want as a "NEW" snip, it then appears simply as a blank screen within the
Snip & Sketch app. I believe that the app says it copies the snip to the Clipboard, so I attempted to open up a Word doc and a Notepad doc and "Paste" but still nothing appears.

Please help!
