Windows 10: Snip & Sketch suddenly useless!

I've used Snip &Sketch successfully for as long as I've had W10. Today, suddenly, it stopped working when I use the Shift-Winkey-S hotkey combination. All I get is a thin yellow border around my whole desktop screen, and no S&S control panel (the small panel that gives all the options - 4 kinds of snips + an exit X). The yellow border disappears after a few seconds, but no snip has been taken. Normal behaviour of S&S is that you see the yellow border for an instant, and then the small control panel emerges onscreen. I've looked into this here. I've used Brink's tutorial on resetting and re-registering the app. I've reset the app in Apps and Features, I've uninstalled the app and re-installed it from the MS Store. I've restarted a bunch of times. I've scanned with both Defender and Malwarebytes. I've scanned with AdwCleaner. I've even used a System Restore to go back to a two-day-old Restore Point. It was working perfectly back then. Nada. Yes, I have backups, but I'm waiting to restore an MR image until I'm sure there isn't an easier, simpler solution. Any help sincerely appreciated. I have a working S & S on my other PC, so it's almost certainly not Windows-update related. Pro 20H2 19042.985

Snip and Sketch Awkward

Use Windows+shift+s to launch Snip and Sketch. Can snip a screenshot.

Now the problem is this: after snipping the screen shot, it does not automatically appear in the Snip and Sketch app. So I open Snip and Sketch and there's nothing on it.

So I have choose 'new' and snip the screen yet again.

I recall using this once and taking a screenshot and voila! Snip and Sketch appeared with the screen shot duly in the app's workspace, ready for annotations and saving etc. This facility has disappeared. I have re-set it according to instructions, and even
reinstalled it - yet the problem persists.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Thank you for updating me that information. If you mean the snip and sketch? Based on your description the snipping tool is crashing?

Please try to reset Snip and Sketch

Press Start then search Apps and Features

Select Snip and Sketch on the list

Click Terminate then Reset

If it doesn't work, Please try to create a new administrator account then check if everything is working.

Snip & Sketch keeps overriding clipboard

Method 1

and try the suggested steps and check if the issue still persists. If the issue still persists try with the method 2.

Method 2

Reset Snip & Sketch app

1. Press Windows + I key and click on
   Apps.
   
2. Click on Apps & features. Select Sketch & Snip app from the available list of installed apps.
   
3. Click on Snip & Sketch > Advanced Options.
   
4. Click on Reset option.
   
5. Restart the computer once and check the status of the issue.
   
6. Let us know if the issue still persists.
