Windows 10: Snipping Tool didn't capture full video

I was recording my screen for about 30 mins using the snipping tool's video capture feature. Unfortunately when I was finished and hit the 'stop button' - the snipping tool only exported 12 mins of my video. There was no error message and things seemed to be working as they should the entire time. Why did half my video vanish?Is there a way to find the missing video or is it gone for good?

Is there an equivalent of Snipping Tool for capturing video from a denoted area?

There's a very handy application that comes with Windows 10 called Snipping Tool which allows me to capture a specific area of my screen.

The problem is that I can only capture a single image at a time. Is there a tool out there that is just as simple to use that will allow me to select an area to capture a video?

This is a design limitation of the snipping tool



I have gone through your post and I have checked this for you. As of now, the snipping tool can be used to capture the information that is available only in the given window. It not applicable to capture the entire article/memo,
if the information you are trying to capture, exceeds the window's border, hence requiring you to scroll down to view the information.



Suggest you to refer the article Use
Snipping Tool to capture screenshots for the snip options that are currently available.



However, this is a valuable suggestion, as there may be other users with the similar requirement as yourself. Hence, I would suggest you to post your suggestion with respect to your query in the
Feedback Hub,
so that our developers can look into this for you, in order to check if it can be included in the upcoming Updates

Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots

I use "Scrolling Capture" not "Screen Recorder", the Screen Recorder is the feature that ShareX has. By using "Scrolling Capture", I only select the scrolling area and start capture, ShareX automatic capture and scroll till end, then I got a capture screen of all scrolling area easily. You can try ShareX's Scrolling Capture, I think this feature should be add in Snipping Tool & Snip & Sketch.

Before ShareX, I use PickPic, which capture screen only but it not free and limit in free version. So, I search for alternative of PickPic and found ShareX, that not only capture screen but also can record screen too. Not only install version, it has portable version too.
