Snipping Tool Failing to fully render and capture in Windows 11

For the last week or so, since installing some updates, I've noticed that the Snipping Tool which is available on the Microsoft store is not working. Here is what I've tried:1. Press windows + ctrl + s OR printscreen2. see crosshairs appear on screen for mouse pointer3. drag area you to capture4. no rectangle appears, no outline, and the snipping tool app does not appear5. The app gets stuck, never finishes defining the area to snipp, and never makes the capture. 6. because it never makes a capture, you don't get the notification that a snippet occurred.I have tried: Repairing it in settingsUn

  2. snipping tool

    Please try this:

    Step 1:

Click Start, and type Snipping Tool.

Right-click Snipping Tool from the search results, and click App Settings

    Click Reset,

    Click Repair.

Note: In Windows 11, there is no Snip and Sketch. It comes pre-installed with the new Snipping Tool (which replaces the old Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps)

    Step 2:

Turn off Focus assist if it's enabled

    Step 3:

Open Services.msc and make sure that the following services are set to "Automatic" and running:

    • Windows Push Notifications System Service
    • Windows Push Notifications User Service

  3. Neither Snipping Tool nor Xbox Game Bar capture web browser pages

    History
I recently upgraded to Windows 11. Prior to the upgrade, I used the old snipping tool (pre-Window 10) which worked fine.
Xbox Game Bar, however, never captured web pages on Windows 10 or 11.
Both Snipping Tool and Xbox Game Bar capture app window content such as an MS Word document but web pages immediately turn solid black whenever Snipping Tool capture is attempted (i.e. press “New” in the tool or I start to record using Xbox Game Bar.

    Attempted Repairs
I have tried a variety of processes to get Snipping Tool to work:

    1. Terminated and restarted Windows Explorer using Task Manager and restarted.
    2. Ran Repair under Apps > Apps& features > Snipping Tool.
    3. Ran Reset under Apps > Apps& features > Snipping Tool.
    4. Set Background apps permissions to Always under Apps > Apps& features > Snipping Tool.
    5. Ran Windows Update Trouble Shooter and upgrade 6 apps.
    6. Ran Scannow Tool as administrator. No “integrity violations” were detected.
    7. Launch the Snipping Tool manually from the Command prompt. All web pages turn black when I attempt to capture any area of the screen.
I do not know what else to do. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Snipping Tool Failing to fully render and capture in Windows 11

How to use snipping tool to capture full page of an article

    Hi Sandi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

This is a design limitation of the snipping tool

I have gone through your post and I have checked this for you. As of now, the snipping tool can be used to capture the information that is available only in the given window. It not applicable to capture the entire article/memo,
if the information you are trying to capture, exceeds the window's border, hence requiring you to scroll down to view the information.

Suggest you to refer the article Use
    Snipping Tool to capture screenshots
for the snip options that are currently available.

However, this is a valuable suggestion, as there may be other users with the similar requirement as yourself. Hence, I would suggest you to post your suggestion with respect to your query in the
    Feedback Hub,
so that our developers can look into this for you, in order to check if it can be included in the upcoming Updates

    Thanks,

    Suman.B
