Snipping tool Save location is giving me multiple errors.

Every time I hit SHift+Windows+s it would take a screensnip/shot and save it to user/pictures/screenshots no problem.Well for some reason today it was saving it to user/onedrivestuff/pictures/screenshots ; some empty folder that I created back when I was trying to fix a issue I was having, so this folder is not associated with onedrive at all.I went ahead and I deleted onedrivestuff and saved another screenshot and boom it recreated all those folders just to save it there. I then went ahead and turned off auto save, deleted the folders again and then manually saved a screenshot to the correct

  2. Change Snipping Tool save location on Windows 11 but not Screenshots

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Unfortunately, as of as I know, there is no direct way to change the default save location for the Snipping Tool without also affecting the Screenshots folder in Windows 11. The Snipping Tool and the Screenshot function share the same default save location.

However, there's a workaround you might find useful. After you've taken a snip using the Snipping Tool, rather than simply clicking the save button (floppy disk icon), you can choose "File" from the menu and then "Save As". This will allow you to select a specific location where you want to save the snip. If you always save your snips to the same location using this method, the Snipping Tool will remember the location and suggest it as the default place to save the next time you use "Save As".

    Best regards

  3. Change Snipping Tool save location on Windows 11 but not Screenshots

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

I apologize for the confusion. It appears that you're using the new Snip & Sketch tool, which replaced the old Snipping Tool in recent versions of Windows. The Snip & Sketch tool is a bit different and doesn't have the "File" menu I mentioned earlier.

However, it still remembers the last location where you saved a snip. So, if you click on the disk icon to save your snip, then choose a specific location, the next time you save a snip it should default to the same location.

If this doesn't work, a workaround could be to manually move your Snipping Tool files to a specific folder using File Explorer after saving them in the default location. I understand this is not as convenient as having a separate default save location, but currently there are no settings in Windows 11 that allow you to have separate default save locations for the Snipping Tool and the Screenshots folder.

Snipping Tool not giving SAVE AS option

    Hi Gisela,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

They have made screenshots process overly complex in Windows 11, using that method the screenshots are saved to the Clipboard, if you press the Windows key + V to open the clipboard app you will see your screenshot.

To use the snipping tool in Windows 11 from the Taskbar, click your Start button and jsut type snip

On the resulting list, you will see the Snipping tool, right click that and select 'Pin to Taskbar' and you will have an icon for that tool on you taskbar
