Snipping Tool (WIN + Shift + S): Screenshot save location?

    answered by @PCR Just PCR

    My path is different

    When Saving Screenshots

    Using

    Win + Shift + s

The Temp Folder Path for me is

    Path

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy\TempState\ScreenClip

    Tip 1/

Create a shortcut for any user

just paste that exact path above into the path property of a new shortcut

    Tip 2/

Create a shortcut in the ScreenClip folder linking to any folder you commonly want to move shortcuts too

    Tip 3/

That folder contains a thumbnail & a full size clip. All Thumbnails & screen Clips can be renamed/deleted at will without creating any problems

    Tip 4/

using Win + Shift + s normally launches a quick action toolbar in the notification area which adds a step

(I found it annoying as I was taking many screenshots, so I turned it off)

The common suggestion is to open paint and past it in there to create a screenshot.

I find it much easier to just go direct to the temp Folder using the path above.

    Tip 5/

    To Process many screenshots efficiently

0/Empty the folder (of screenshots & thumbnails before taking a sequence of new shots

1/Take your shots then delete all the small files (screenshots)

2/Order the files by date created

    3/Select all the remaining files

4/Right-click on the first file of my selection and give it a meaningful name

(windows renames all selected files PLUS appends sequential numbers)

5/Move my Newly sequentially named files to my desired location

  3. Snipping Tool (WIN + Shift + S): Screenshot save location?

Is there a way to get both of these things with a shortcut:

    1. Snip of screen, rather than fullscreen (like the snipping tool does).

    2. Along with automatically saving to the Screenshots folder?

That'd be so great! It is available on other OS.

Snipping Tool (WIN + Shift + S): Screenshot save location?

When I took a screenshot, Windows told me I wanted to try: WIN + Shift + S

So, I did. But, where is this screenshot other than the clipboard?

I can paste directly into OneNote, or whatever image program, but I don't want that. I want a timestamped screenshot or the "Shortcut" is not for what I need to do.

Is there a fourth button in the combo to actually save the screenshot? This is so weird to me. Not an improvement. Would be an improvement IF it were saved automatically. Is there really not a folder somewhere that these shots are stored automatically?
