Windows 10: So HDMI sound and Realtek sound still not working after update.

So the sound went off after the windows 10 update. My laptop says all drivers are up to date. Now windows says the speakers are working but no sound comes out. I have to use headphones or a sound bar. All tests say the speakers work. For moments they play sound but then stop. What also does not work is the HDMI sound. I used to connect my laptop to the tv and play films through it using the dvd player or netflix. Now the laptop wont even recognise the HDMI cable as an option. When you run tests it shows the cable as an option and when I select it I am told it is not plugged in. The lead works

Hi,

The HDMI might not be set as default. To set this as default please follow these steps:

• Go to Control Panel.
• Select Hardware and Sound.
• Choose Sound.
• Select Change system sounds.
• Click Playback.
• Then select the device.
• At the bottom, click Set Default.
• Click Apply and OK.

If the troubleshooting steps above did not work for you, try changing a different HDMI cable.

HDMI Sound Not Working

I have HDMI sound issues. The video comes through the Sony AVAMP display but the sound will not come through the home theater system. The sound works fine when I switch to the Sony from the Lenovo computer. I can use Bluetooth to connect to portable speakers which replays the sound. There is a SONY AVAMP driver which I'll go about attempting to delete and reboot the system to see if it will re-install. I'll come back to this page and update the results.

My follow up message. Deleting the Sony AVAMP driver and restarting installed the driver again, but it still did not solve the problem. I'm not getting sound through the HDMI system. Suggestions please, thank you.
