Windows 10 upgrade on a refurbished business laptop

I'm in this position and have yet to see the Windows 10 upgrade icon. I recently (a week ago) bought a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad from an authorized MS refurbisher. It's got the shiny new Windows 7 Pro COA on the bottom which says "Windows 7 Pro for Refurb
PCs." I used the number during setup and Windows activated immediately, so I know everything is kosher. I've also got updates set to auto and have installed the two optional updates that are supposedly required. AND I've followed the various steps detailed
here:

I want to reserve my free copy of Windows 10, but I don’t see the icon on the taskbar

I still have no upgrade icon. When/how will I be notified? Thank you.

 

Suggest new laptop/notebook

If portability is the main goal, in spite of graphics topping your requirement list, I'd rather go for Lenovo or Xiaomi (as far as I know, they're big players in your area) as I'm pretty much fed up with most of the traditional brands (I had terrible problems with HP, dell and acer, which's the best one among these in my experience).

So... A thinkpad as already suggested or a Xiaomi Air xx.

Refurbished Laptop?

I fully agree with this statement. The laptop I'm using right now is a refurbished HP business Ultrabook that I snagged on eBay for $265 shipped from a local company. It was about a year old when I bought it and it looked almost brand new. So far, it has worked flawlessly. Plus, it even came with the original HP recovery DVDs for Windows 8.1 Pro and all of the drivers. Just make sure you research whichever one you're looking at before you buy to make sure the specs are good enough for what you need it to do and to see possible hardware variations.
