So when does our next excuse for a clean install arrive ?

I was wondering when the next big release of W10 is due. You know, the one that has us all clambering to create an ISO and use it as an excuse to clean install rather than upgrade.

Do we have any timescale and what the release may be like ?

    :)

  2. Security Update 3156421 Cumulative Security Update for Windows 10 x64 fails to insttall

Hi Survana: I cannot tell if the situation is resolved because when I check for installed updates it indicates no updates have been installed but I believe on 19 May a new update arrived and installed. Also in a previous life I had the same problem with
a windows 7 computer and a similar fix was proffered to me and after going through the steps the next time I started the computer it generated the update list without difficulty; so I am a puzzled about is the issue solved. The next time an podtae arrives
I will be able to say affirmatively it does or does not; sorry for the half answer but I did not want to ignore the reques for an update!

    Thanks

Fix " User profile cannot be loaded"

    OK, for a clean install . ..

Select each partition on Drive 0 and click Delete

Until you have one unallocated space left on Disk 0

Then click next and the installation routine will continue and automatically create the required partitions for the clean installation

When the installation restarts at that point go back into BIOS and set your hard drive as the top of the boot order, otherwise the installation will restart . . .

DO NOT remove the Installation media until you arrive at the Desktop

So when does our next excuse for a clean install arrive ?

I have no time scale. I had this system from W7 > 8 > 8.1 > to all insider versions since day one but everything came to a halt with 15002 which wouldn't update previous version and had to do clean install.
Quite different experience from W95 to XP, had to do clean install twice a year to keep system running in top notch state.

Thanks. Does that mean it will be a similar scenario to the Anniversary Update i.e. a major release with lots of changes incorporated.

  9. I love a clean install myself keeps it running really fast with none of the bug complaints on this forum..

? So how you wipe your drive before re-install ?

I like to DOD3 pass clean my drive, then give it a slow w10 format to clear the 0's & 1's myself !

  10. I just delete all partitions except my Data partition and install to the unallocated space. Windows will create what partitions it needs automatically. Job done, quick and easy.

It sounds like it all going to be fun then. I love doing clean installs and usually set a plan out, what I will install first and last and so on together with all the customisation.

I agree that keeping things clean usually means you have pretty much zero issues. I always use the install media to take everything down to unallocated space, install Windows on a deliberately small partition <under 20Gb and then expand to suit.
