Windows 10: software hang on IAudioClient::Release when using USB headset

When using linphone sdk 5.2.114, I found it occasionally hangs on customer's windows 7 machine, using usb headset, when the sip call is turning to hold moderecvonly. The sdk trys to end audio stream on this event.I have located the hanging code line by adding log and recompile sdk, it's in mswasapi_reader.cpp, MSWASAPIReader::~MSWASAPIReader { RELEASE_CLIENTmAudioClient; ...}RELEASE_CLIENTmAudioClient is a C macro which boils down to IAudioClient::Release.With some effort, I have reproduced it on a windows 7 virtual machine, also using USB headset. The frequency is one hang after 150

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Headset USB not recognised Win 10

This is what the Device manager is showing me when i expand the USB list, The issue is i do not know where my headset is on this list, i have 5 USB cables going into my computer, one of which is the headset, but when i remove it and put it back in, there
is no change to this page, even when i scan for hardware changes. if there is a general driver for all USB's then i would install that but im not sure there is. i have turned the option on to show hidden devices, just incase it was there, but no luck.

Think of USB headsets as headsets with USB sound-cards built in.

The headset connects to the system and is configured as a sound-card. I don't think the drivers would conflict with the existing sound-card's drivers on your system, just that it could bring up resource conflicts. Your sound-card will be rendered useless if you use the headset only. IIRC, you bought a new 5.1 set. If that's connected to the sound card, and top of it you connect the headset, it will be configured as the default output device. Do this:





Configure Winamp to be your music player. In that drop-down list of DirectSound settings, if there are more than one installed sound card, the second card shows up under #03. Configure it to the headset (if you prefer), in Windows Control Panel, set the default output device as your card (to which your 5.1 set is connected). Swap these when needed, or simply change the default output device in the Control Panel whenever needed. You can un-configure the headset by simply unplugging it, when Windows makes the card to which the 5.1 set connected as default.
