Windows 10: Solution for this error 0x800703e6 that doesn't involve me resetting my machine.

Hello, every time I attempt Windows Update, it rejects with error 0x800703e6. This issue is happening for over a year now i think. Some things I've tried: -Windows Troubleshooter. It finds no problems.-Doing a clean boot and attempt an update. Did nothing. Same failure. -I tried to run sfc /scannow. Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service. -I tried to run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Error 998 Invalid access to memory location. My question is whether there is actually a solution for this that doesn't involve me resetting my machine. I am not willing to re

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

Error 0x800703e6 - is there actually a fix for this

Every time I attempt Windows Update, it rejects with error 0x800703e6. Checking my update history, I realized just yesterday that my computer hasn't installed an update successfully since February 2022. As part of my intensive googling on this subject, I went to see if I needed to uninstall an update, and discovered that my computer thinks it has 0 updates installed whatsoever. I don't know if one of the things I've tried has erased them, or what happened to them. I'm running Windows 10 Home (20H2) 64-bit on an AMD Ryzen 9 3950X with a solid state C: drive.

Some things I've tried:

- Windows Troubleshooter. It finds no problems.

- Installing the updates manually. I've been unable to figure out which ones out of the many, many updates available on Microsoft's website that I'm supposed to have. The updates tell me that a later version is already installed, or that it's just not the right one, or they fail with (again) error 0x800703e6.

- Doing a clean boot and attempt an update. Did nothing. Same failure.

- I have attempted to repair/upgrade/overwrite/whatever the install with Windows10Upgrade9252.exe and MediaCreationTool22H2.exe and both failed with (again) error 0x800703e6.

- I tried to run sfc /scannow. Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

- I tried to run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Error 998 Invalid access to memory location.

- I temporarily disabled my antivirus, firewall, and Malwarebytes realtime protections. No change.

- Disk cleanup did nothing.

- I shut down a couple of services (wuauserv cryptsvc bits appidsvc) and then renamed two directories in my Windows folder to disable them (SoftwareDistribution and catroot2) and force them to be re-created. I then ran Windows Update again and while the two directories were successfully re-created, there has been no change. Still error 0x800703e6.

- I tried setting my DNS to 8.8.8.8. I have no idea what this was supposed to accomplish, but whatever it was, it didn't work either.

My question is whether there is actually a solution for this that doesn't involve me resetting my machine. I am not willing to reset my machine. It's unbelievable to me that Microsoft has managed to brick their own update system, in the sense that I just don't believe it. There has to be some kind of solution. Please help me.

thanks for response. I tried your steps with a Google DNS and Open DNS - but it doesn´t help.

The game still crashes in the moment I try to run it.

I'll be glad for another solutions.
