Windows 10: Solution: Nvidia HD Audio Driver will not install ASUS Z790

For whatever reason, if you install ASUS Armory before your NVIDIA driver, it may install registry key entries under:Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceInstall\Restrictions\DenyDeviceIDsthat prevent the installation of the NVIDIA HD Audio Driver from any source, even if you have policy overrides in place.

Asus VIA HD Audio Driver, Windows 10

I have an ASUS G75VW. I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday and it seems to have disabled my internal speakers. I believe the default speakers run on the VIA HD Audio drivers but I am not sure. I also have a list of multiple NVIDIA High Definition Audio drivers
under the Audio section in the device manager.

A quick note on what fixed it for me (so far).

1. Right-click on "VIA HD Audio" and choose "Update Driver..."

2. Tell it to let me choose which one I want to install.

3. List drivers already installed.

4. (Important) You will see both "VIA HD Audio" and "VIA High Definition Audio". The former is probably installed; change it to the latter.

After a quick install, it seemed to work!

Unfortunately neither of the two methods worked and after uninstalling the audio driver from my computer, the one I downloaded from the ASUS website would not install so now I have no VIA HD Audio Driver. The website only has audio drivers for my computer
up to Windows 8 and no further.
