Solution to Monitors showing different sizes

So this is actually a reply to jbootzin's question from 2018, which you can read here. The actual solution to this instead of the moderator's response is that you have to have the monitor with the highest DPI or resolution set to the maximum comfortable resolution of the smallest DPI monitor.Since you have now set them to the same resolution, they should both be displaying the same, but you will get odd artifacts, like the one with more DPI will cause text to be smaller. You fix this part by going into the "Scale and Layout" section and "Change the size of text, apps, and other items."So for ex

    Dual Monitors Different "Sizes"

I have two 27" monitors that are are of the same physical size but of different resolutions - 1080p and 1440p. These are being run through an RTX3060Ti so max resolution supported is 7680x4320, way above what I am displaying.

When I open display and set them to their native resolutions they show as different size boxes. This creates two main issues for me:

    1. Screen alignment is out. With the digital tops aligned the digital bottom of the 1080p monitor is roughly 1/4 up from the digital bottom of the 1440p. The physical top and bottom are in line.
    2. Dual screen background pictures are all sorts of misaligned/scaled
Ignoring my portrait reading monitor on the right, I am referring to Displays 3 & 1.

Am I missing a setting here or doing something silly as I cannot seem to get these to align short of changing monitor 1 to 1080p (then they all size correctly)

Multi-monitor set up with different sizes and resolutions?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you see a different setup of monitors in the multiple displays section.

I would like to inform that the multiple display section will show the monitor setup as per the screen resolution you are using instead of the actual size of the monitors.

Since, you are using a screen resolution 1920 X 1080 for
Monitor 1 and 1680 X 1050 for Monitor 2 that is the reason you see a size difference in the multiple display section.

Let us know if you need any further assistance, we will be glad to help you further.

    Regards,

    Nikhar Khare

Multi-monitor set up with different sizes and resolutions?

    Hi Nikhar,

Thanks, I am clearly aware of that the monitor manager sizes monitors according to resolution. What I need is an option
not to do so. When moving the cursor through different monitors, or sizing a window over several monitors, it doesn't make sense.

    Does such an option exist?

    Thanks,

    Henrik.
