The answer is, YES. YES you can create your own shortcuts to Metro apps and it is surprisingly easy:

First, open a file explorer window and paste this address into the address bar at the top:

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}

Press enter.

This opens the applications folder that can't be opened any other way such as clicking through folders. This is the entire list of every Metro app on your computer.

It's in HERE that we CAN create shortcuts by right clicking each app. The only caveat is that you have no cholce but to send them to the desktop.

So what? Because once they're on the desktop you can move those shortcuts wherever you want according to your particular needs. You may want to create a folder on your desktop to collect all the app shortcuts or put them all somewhere else where, for example, a Windows tweak program can get to them. I use something called TaskbarGroups to pin many shortcuts to a single icon on the taskbar. That tweak requires straightforward shortcuts to place into it. There is no way to place a Metro app directly into it. This method solves that problem for me. I hope it solves yours.

Finally possible to put Metro apps in a folder?

You could use step 4 in Option 1 to add a new folder in the All Apps list, then add shortcuts into the new folder.

How to pin app shortcut to desk top?
