Windows 10: SOLVED: 'Incorrect password' in Safe Mode - Windows 10

EDIT: I have solved this issue by myself, see solution at the bottom of the post - another computer and a USB drive is needed.


Yesterday I put my laptop into safe mode to try to remove an unwanted program on my computer and having the 'access denied' pop-up. When I try to log-in on safe mode, it says 'incorrect password'. The password is definitely correct - I have just used it to log-on to here.


I have tried all of the different options when pressing 'restart' and holding shift - but they all need the password.


I have tried entering the password using the on-screen keyboard. I have also tried using the 'eye' button to check that it is definitely the right password.


I have tried to go through 'safe mode with networking' and have connected my laptop to the internet with an Ethernet cable but it is still showing as no internet. The problem is not with the internet - plugging the same cable into two other laptops, it is connecting to the internet. Therefore, I cannot reset my password to Windows Live and see if that changes the password on the laptop as it will not connect to the internet. My laptop is less than a year old and now useless.


I have looked at past 'solutions' on here, but it seems that there is no solution to this.

I was lucky that there was another administrator account on my laptop as it would not let me reset the 'Live ID' aka email password without paying. My original password was a Live ID password and the administrator was a local account so it just let me remove the password and then I was able to get out of safe mode


I really hope this helps someone as I have been trying to find a solution to this for 2 days now and I've seen this question appear many times just unanswered!

Problems with password in Safe Mode

When I try to log on to my desktop computer in Safe Mode it tells me my current password is incorrect. If I log on to my laptop computer in Safe Mode my current password is accepted. My wife can log on to my desktop computer in Safe Mode using her current password without any problem. If I log on to my desktop computer in Safe Mode using my previous Microsoft password, however, that is accepted.

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem with my desktop Safe Mode log-on and how I can get it to accept my current password, please.

Password not accepted in Safe mode

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

Have you tried all the above steps suggested by Sangeeta Sarkar on September 13, 2015.

I would suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

• Are you trying to login the Microsoft account or the Local account in safe mode?
• Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
• What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking.

• 
  At the login screen click on the power symbol.
  
• 
  Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.
  
• 
  After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
  
• 
  Select advanced options under
  Troubleshoot screen.
  
• 
  Click on Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
  Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.

Windows 10 on safe mode is looked (password incorrect)

My laptop entered in the safe mode, but I don´t remember my Microsoft Password. I already used other computer to change the password the message "Password incorrect" still appearing.

Going to Troubleshoot mode (with Restart/Shift) doesn't help because when I'm trying to get to a command prompt Win is keeping asking me for a PIN which is not accessible because network driver doesn't see the network. Suggestions?

Observation: My Laptop is showing that there is no acess to the internet
