Windows 10: * SOLVED * microphone mute with keyboard shortcut

After hours and hours of googling, I finally stumbled upon this hidden gem, a lean app which works for me on Windows 10.

It allows you to bind a keyboard shortcut and toggles the mic mute/unmute.

Provides visual and audio indication.

Do you have a Microsoft keyboard or mouse? Then you could write macros for them. Ditto for other major manufacturers. Otherwise, I think you might be restricted to using SendKeys() in a script. For example, one keyboard shortcut sequence that would do
what you want would be to open Mobility Center and click its Mute button (Win-x b, Alt-M)

Without using third party software, how can a microphone mute shortcut be setup to mute a microphone on and off.

I do see under record devices>properties for mic> levels> a mute button there that would work. how can I trigger that with a keyboard shortcut if I need to turn mute and unmute quickly on voip calls. The button will work but I need to be able to access
it without going into the properties for the mic each time.

I do have a Microsoft keyboard and mouse. I don't see any options to mute a mic in the controls and I don't see window mobility center within windows 10 ver1703. How would I write macros for my Microsoft keyboard to mute the mic?
