  1. [SOLVED] Unable to remove remnants of Windows.Old

Hello,I recently dug up an old computer that I used some times ago. This computer wasn’t performing well so I decided to reset it, so as to have it cleaned up from all the junks and scraps it had. The reset went successfully, everything deleted. Although, when browsing my disk, I came upon the Windows.old file. Knowing what it does, I just assumed I would remove it to get more space. Unfortunately I only managed to remove the majority of it, but the minority remaining is untouchable.Whenever I try to remove the file, I am greeted with permissions problems, either from System or Trusted Instal

  2. How to remove remnants of windows 7?

    Hi,

To isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Did you make any changes or updates to your PC prior to the issue?
    • Have you run the certain game as an administrator?
    • Have you tried running the game in compatibility mode?
We suggest that you update your Windows. Follow the steps below to update Windows.

    • Click Start button, then select Settings.
    • Click Update & Security.
    • Click Windows Update.
    • If you want to update manually, select Check for updates.
    • Select Advanced options, and under Choose how updates are installed, select
      Automatic (recommended).
For more information regarding Windows.old folder, Windows will automatically delete the Windows.old folder to free up space after a month. The Windows.old folder contains the old Windows system. From the Windows system files to your installed programs and
each user account’s settings and files. It can be used to restore your system to the old version of Windows if you don't like the new version.

Let us know how it goes.

Target removal through .bat file of remnant apps

I have comprised the following using the information provided on this site, a .bat file that removes all apps from local, other accounts and future accounts.

    Apps.zip

However, upon launching CCleaner > Tools > Uninstall we have several remnants that are left behind we need to figure out how to completely remove via the .bat file.

    List of Remnant Apps:
    • App Installer
    • Microsoft Pay
    • Store Experience Host
    • Xbox Game Bar
    • Xbox Identity Provider
    • Xbox Live

Can anyone tell me how we can actually remove these completely via .bat?

I have just reinstalled Windows 10 Pro and used the attached .bat file. CCleaner showed this time that Xbox Game Bar was uninstalled this time but the regular Game Bar was present. All other remnants remained.

Looks like the process is very unstable with a certain level of uncertainty regardless of how you uninstall.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Bump!

  4. [SOLVED] Unable to remove remnants of Windows.Old

Unable to remove old administrator account.

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want to delete one of the old administrator accounts from your computer. If you want to save the data from the old Administrator account, I would suggest you to copy the data from the old user account from
C: Users\<Old User Account> and move it to your backup drive or folder in a different location, before deleting the account.

I would also like to know what exactly happens when you try to remove the old Administrator account from your PC.

To delete an Administrator account from your PC, you will have to login to another user account with
Administrator access as User Accounts cannot be deleted through a Standard account.

Once you have logged into your new Administrator account, you can follow the steps mentioned below to remove the old Administrator account from your PC. To do this, by

    1. Login to the new Admin User Account that you want to keep.
    2. Tap on 'Windows + I' on the keyboard.
    3. Click on 'Accounts'.
    4. Now click on 'Family & other users'.
    5. Select the old Administrator account from the list.
    6. Click on 'Remove'.

Let us know if you face any issues, and we will certainly assist you further.

    Hope it helps.
