Windows 10: Solved: Win10 Task Bar Icons Not Opening Apps when With Left Mouse Click

WINDOWS 10 FIX FOR TASK BAR ISSUES LIKE LEFT MOUSE CLICK ON TASK BAR ICON WON’T OPEN POP-UP MENU ON WINDOWS-BASED ICONS


Tried everything; I even reached out to the MS Team on chat, who suggested everything I'd already tried. I had no corrupt files, SCANNOW did not identify the problem. Finally, I ran into the solution on the Dell Board. It worked for me. This solved my issues with the Sound functions, Action Center Notifications and Time/Date Calendar not displaying.


This solution will reinstall the ShellExperienceHost package, which is responsible for Start Menu & Taskbar functionality.

Start PowerShell.exe as administrator and then run this command:​

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$$_.InstallLocation\AppXManifest.xml"}


The above command reinstalls the ShellExperienceHost package, which is responsible for Start menu & Taskbar functionality.

Windows icon at left in the task bar fails...

The directions to fix this problem should read:

• Go through all the motions to create a useless account.
  
  Log Out and log into your usual account.
• The start button will now work for left click
• The task bar icons will now work for right-click.
• When you hover over the task bar open icons, the images will not get stuck on the screen which used to make you hover over another icon in the task bar to get them to disappear.
• Now you have to go in and figure out how to repair your Outlook because it got all scrupped with the new yet fake eddress but that is an entirely different operation.

P.S. How did my choice to use the unordered list end up skipping that second line?

Is this another MS feature?

Left click mouse

Perform the following steps:
1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy or paste:
2) sfc /scannow
3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
4) chkdsk /scan
5) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
6) Net user test /add
7) Shutdown /r
8) When the computer reboots sign on with the new user named test
9) Check the performance of the mouse with the new user named test and report the results into the thread

Another queerness of the task bar:

I hover over an icon which was open and is now minimized. The image of that app remains on the screen until I hover over another icon in the task bar.

This is particularly offensive if I am trying to click at something at teh bottom of the window and accidentally hover ofer an icon in teh task bar. Now what I was trying to do is eclipsed by a preview of that icon. I have to stop the thinking process
to find a task bar icon on which to hover to get rid of the preview.

None of these things happen on my second WIN10 machine.
