Windows 10: [Solved] Windows update causes video card driver problem directx3d not working properly

SOLVE. Deleted Duet Display.

DirectDaw acc: enabled, Direct3D acc: enabled, AGP Texture acc: enabled

Summary: After Windows update, display/rendering is broken.


1. Video playback: default setting video output DirectX, no video playback, audio playback working. Changing output to OpenGL, video works.


2. Game: All games stop working. StarWar2/Dota2/Elder Scroll/FarCry/etc. Some will enter game with black screen, there is sound and game is running properly. Some will exit after initial black screen loading, no error message.


3. App render: NordVPN will not render correctly. You see a white top boarder, but app is transparent. See below. Other apps are working.




4. High CPU usage. I don't know if it is related but the CPU usage is much higher.


I think the ultimate issue is that windows updated direct3d and may added some advanced rendering options, and it does not work with my old video card driver. There is no update from ASUS on HD 5500, and I can't install official driver from Intel because it is custom.


There is no error/warning logged in windows event logs for the above problems. Haven't had time to try set up individual program logs.


Any suggested solutions?

Problem solved - card not seated properly

Problem solved. I took the card out and put it back in again in the same slot, and it works now on both GNU/Linux and Windows 10. Presumably it was not seated properly.

 

sd card problem with videos

It says the best driver is already installed. I really think it's an issue related to the sd card hardware or driver. The problem doesn't happen if the videos are on the hard drive.

 

No Video Playback
