Windows 10: Some iPhone videos don't play on Windows 10 Photos, but do play on Windows Media Player

Recently, I've imported a bunch of videos from my new iPhone 12 mini. I imported using the 'Keep original' setting in iPhone settings, because this is the only way I could get the import to be successful see here. So the files supposedly have *not* been formatted to Windows friendly formats. However, the videos are .MOV files, which Windows should have no problem playing. Indeed, some of the videos play just fine in both Windows Photos and Windows Media Player. However, other videos *only* play in Windows Media Player even though an overexposed version of the first frame shows up in the Windows Photos thumbnail.


Does anyone know why this could be? I generally like the layout of Windows Photos app, and love scrolling old photos and vids, and I'm bummed that some of my videos require a different app to play.

Faulty Windows Media Player

Windows Mesdis Player developed a fault (Played jerky an missed bits) so I down loaded Media Player 10.

It's no better. Any suggestions (I run Windows 98)

For video issue in Edge, I suggest you to check if Adobe flash player is enabled. Refer to the article below:

Remove Play with Windows Media Player Context Menu in Windows 10  

Choose Default Apps in Windows 10 Windows 10 Apps Features Tutorials

Step 1. Open with > choose another app




Step 2, click More apps





Step 3. scroll down to the bottom of the list to find Look for another app on this PC





Step 4. browse and find Windows Media Player wmplayer.exe then click Open
