Windows 10: Some Modern UI links do not work

Hello there, since a while,

some links in the Modern UI Settings will not work and the the following error is shown it looks like this happens on items requiring old interface launching, such as control panel items...

Tried Dism online and SFC Scannow, with no improvement

Modern UI next to Start Menu

But they haven't stripped off the modern UI - it is still there and you can either have the smaller size or the full screen

I notice the modern UI next to Start Menu in desktop mode. This modern UI is an incomplete one unlike the full program menu in Windows 8.1 tablet mode. What is major purpose to have it - looks like a duplication of Start Menu?

 

Modern host stopped working

If you have sufficient space to install Windows 10 on your computer, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Open Windows Explorer.
• Navigate to “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download”
• Delete everything in this folder.
• Now Open Command Prompt with administrator.
• Type wuauclt.exe /updatenow
• Press Enter key.
