Windows 10: Some mysterious macro keeps firing on Windows 10

Hello all, I've been plagued with an issue that has been affecting me for months now

Every now and then my windows key will press itself and type in random things related to my VR headset. At first I immediately suspected it was remote access but the actions the macro uses are the same thing every time, it just presses the Windows key and types 'Windows Mixed Reality Portal' and opens that. Sometimes it opens a driving game I have. It's also been known to type some messages that I've typed in the past while in VR.

I have not found a single similar issue online that has been helpful to my situation. The macro fires while offline also, and continues while not connected to the internet. I dont suspect remote access or root access because it can fire while offline and has not expressed malicious activity. My task manager also has no suspicious processes, and I've run a few different antiviruses many times. This macro has started to affect my work that I do on my PC so any suggestions that can help me in any way is greatly appreciated! (Even leads, or discussion where youve heard similar issues so I can continue my quest)

I know I can reformat, but this is a very difficult process for me due to the amount of storage I have and the lack of external storage.

Ez Macros or any other Macro program

Hi Brian,

The issue is quite unclear and too broad for us to distinguish the main reason why you are having challenges/issues in Macro. To have a better understanding of your concern, we'd like to ask you some questions:

• Are you referring on using macros on Excel? If yes, what is the version of your Office?
  
• What exact application are you using when using macros? Where did you download it?

• What were the recent changes made on your computer before you experienced this issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Did you receive any error message?

Your response will be much appreciated.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 and Fire Stick Miracast issue

Since you are not able to find the fire stick, I would request you to execute the hardware and devices troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
  

Please revert if the fires tick still does not get recognized.
