Windows 10: Some of my Bookmark folders are empty and I have lost my bookmark toolbar

When I went into Firefox today some of my Bookmark folders were empty. All my Bookmark toolbar icons have disappeared . I tried exporting from Edge and Chrome, but "O" bookmarks have imported to Firefox. My "Links" icons are still available. I have tried using the backups for my Profile folder, but they are "Unable to process the backup file". I also tried importing from an HTML file on my desktop, but it said there are no items available. The HTML file has been opened and the links are in it. I do have 2 folders on my system with all the bookmarks intact. Can I somehow use these to restore

Firefox Sync Nuked My Bookmarks Toolbar!

With Xmarks going under, I installed the Firefox Sync addon. This morning, my bookmarks toolbar was gone. The folder for it is still in my bookmarks folder, as well as my other bookmarks, but all of the folders and bookmarks I had in my toolbar are missing.

I've been googling around endlessly to try and find a way to restore my sync file to an earlier version. Does anybody know how to do this?

I think I still have my toolbar intact on my desktop. I'll have to pull my ethernet cable before I start it up and do some manual backup trickery to make sure it doesn't nuke those too, but if I could do it more simply, I'd much prefer that.
