Windows 10: Some Of My Desktop Icons Have Disappeared?

Hello everyone,


I've been clearing my desktop because it got to a point where it was filled with shortcuts I didn't need and so on. When It came around to deleting the shortcuts I moved all of the shortcuts I didn't want to delete into a folder so I could just delete the rest all in one go but when I decided to move them back something strange happened.


As if by magic some of the shortcuts I was moving onto the desktop just turned invisible however this only happened for about 5 of them, the rest moved and showed up perfectly. I assumed that the shortcuts were broken so they were being deleted but when I tried to move a new shortcut to the desktop it said that the shortcut already existed and yet it is nowhere to be seen. For some reason these specific shortcuts just don't seem to appear.


If anyone has a solution to this problem It would be greatly appreciated.

Desktop Icons disappeared

Hi Kinsley,

• Are you referring to the desktop icons?
• When did the icons disappear? Did you make any changes to the system Settings?

It's possible that your device is in Tablet mode. I suggest you to turn it off and check if the icons appear. To do so, select the
Action center icon on the taskbar (the little message box next to the date and time), and then select
Tablet mode to turn it on or off.

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

ALL icons missing/blank (desktop, taskbar, explorer)
