Windows 10: Some of my taskbar and start menu functions stopped working

My start menu search tool does not work, my setting search tool stopped working and I can't type anything in it's bar And my language bar/taskbar icon is not shown. I can change my language; I just can't see the language icon. For now, these are the symptoms of the issue that I've encountered. I'm using the following OS/System infoevice name LAPTOP-6NIIGG3L Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz Installed RAM 24.0 GB 23.4 GB usable System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display Edition

Windows Taskbar Transparency And Start Menu Search Functions Stopped Working

I am running:

Edition Windows 11 Home

Version 23H2

Installed on ‎2023-‎08-‎25

OS build 22631.3296

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22687.1000.0

After a recent update (I think) the taskbar became transparent and I can't turn this off (changing the transparency option in the taskbar settings does nothing).

At the same time the Start menu search function stopped working - when I click on the start menu and type in a search, nothing happens. I can't click in the 'search for apps, settings and documents' search area - when I try to click in it nothing happens either.

 

Start Menu and other Taskbar Functions Not Working Properly

I recently did the free upgrade from Windows 8.1 64bit to Windows 10 64bit, and while it worked fine for the first couple of days, shortly after the upgrade my start menu and taskbar stopped working properly. For example, I cannot left click on my Start
Menu - it does nothing. I can right click on it, but it is like an abbreviated version of the normal right click on a properly working Win10 Start Menu, and even then not all of the functions will work when selected. See attached image. I also cannot left
click on the Volume Control and get the usual functions - I have to right click to make it work. Also, the search box does not work - I cannot type anything in it.





I contacted a Microsoft Tech and they gave me the following suggestions:

"Fix the Start Menu problem in the Registry Editor

1. Go to Search, type regedit and open Registry Editor

2. Go to the following path:

o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ ImmersiveShell\Launcher

3. Click Edit, New, DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it UseExperience

4. Double-click the newly created item and set the value to 0

5. Click OK, close the Registry Editor and then restart your computer

If it doesn't work, try below steps:"

To Run this Command, kindly press the Windows logo + X key on your keyboard, then Choose Command Prompt Admin, then click YES. and enter this command and hit enter.

Sfc /scannow

After the sfc if it doesn't fix all corrupted files, try to run the command below.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth"

I did as they suggested and it did not fix the problem. The Sfc /scannow found no corrupted files and the second command just ran and completed as normal.
