    Hi, I created an account just to help other clueless user who also got confused by MS decision about Win 10 Edu and Spotlight.

    I have just upgraded to fall creator update (build 1709) and voila the Spotlight option is gone and I got the dreaded "Some Settings Are Managed By Your Organization” message in the lock screen settings. Confimred on two separate devices running Windows 10 Education edition.

    No, neither Group Policy nor Registry hacks is going to fix this: apparently it's hard linked to the Windows edition, and for some obscure reason they decided to make Spotlight not available in Windows 10 Education regardless of the organization settings on build 1709.
    I changed my activation key to Pro edition, restart the settings app and the spotlight option is there.

    I've pretty well come to the same conclusion. It's by design that they are locked out. I tried to get a confirmation and or an explanation by asking why on Microsoft's private Yammer group. It fell on deaf ears.
