Windows 10: Some times windows 11 will not accept my correct login password

Windows 11 login won't accept my password. I tried rebooting in safe mode and I encounter the same issue. I try my password multiple times, doesn't work, reboot a few times, try again, reboot, try again and then it just works. No apparent reason for it to not work. I've tried different keyboards including the virtual one. I have a second pc with windows 10 with the same password and this problem has never occurred. I'm one step away from resetting my pc.

Windows 11 does not accept correct login password until max # of attempts exceeded

I typically use my fingerprint to log into Windows 11 on my laptop and when that does not work for whatever reason, I am asked to enter my password.

Unfortunately, the system does not accept my correct password and I am required to continue to enter it multiple times until I get the request to enter A1B2C3 in order to continue. The system continues to reject my password and eventually prompts me to restart my computer. When this arises, I do not restart but rather enter my password for a final time and am then logged in successfully.

This scenario happens every time I am required to enter my password after unsuccessful fingerprint login.

Any insight into the cause greatly appreciated!

We understand the difficulties you are facing while login to the PC using your Microsoft account.



In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check if you are able to sign with the correct login credential in Safe mode. Also check if you are connected the PC to the internet, preferably through Ethernet cable.

1. At the login screen click on the power symbol.
   
2. Hold SHIFT key in the keyboard and click Restart.
   
3. After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
   
4. Select advanced options under
   Troubleshoot screen.
   
5. Click on Startup Settings
   
6. Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to Safe Mode
   
7. Login with the correct password using the onscreen keyboard.

login is rejected first time but accepted second time

This just started a few days ago. When I login (to Windows 10), it rejects my password, but then it accepts it the second time. I am sure I have entered the correct password and this is happening every time since it started a few days ago.
